Indian Community in New York to Celebrate Diwali with ‘BRUHUD Seniors’ Recognition Event

New York / Jaipur, November 8, 2025. The BRUHUD New York Seniors, one of the largest non-profit organizations working for senior citizens of Indian origin in the U.S., will host its Grand Diwali Celebration and Recognition Evening today at the Hindu Community Centre, Flushing, New York.

The event celebrates the Festival of Lights and honors prominent members of the Indian diaspora across the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania) for their contributions to community service, culture, and leadership.

🎖 Distinguished Guests and Honorees

The event will be graced by Ambassador Binaya S. Pradhan, Consul General of India in New York, as the Chief Guest, and presided over by Shri Prem Bhandari, Chairman of Jaipur Foot USA and President of RANA (Rajasthan Association of North America).

Three distinguished Indian-origin personalities will be felicitated:

  • Ashok Sancheti – U.S.-based industrialist of Rajasthani origin
  • Captain Pratima B. MaldonadoPunjabi-origin officer and community icon
  • Ajit J. ThakorGujarati-origin entrepreneur and youth role model

🪔 Celebration Schedule and Cultural Highlights

The evening will begin with a Diwali dinner at 5:00 PM, followed by a Sangeet Night at 7:45 PM.
The event will combine Indian cultural performances, music, and traditional festivities, reflecting the unity and spirit of the Indian community in America.

Several New York City mayors have also attended BRUHUD’s cultural events, marking the organization’s influence in the Indo-American community.
